Controversial Immigration Legislation Defeated in Senate
Last week was critical for Arizona's Tourism Industry and business community at the State Capitol. Five controversial bills focusing on new immigration legislation were heard on the Senate Floor.
- SB 1308 & SB1309 focused on birthright citizenship
- SB 1405 restricted hospital admissions
- SB 1407 denied public education
- SB 1611 referenced all public services in an omnibus bill
We are thrilled to say that the efforts of daily legislative visits, emails, phone calls, hearing testimonials and letters were validated by the defeat of ALL five bills on the Senate Floor. Had they passed, they would have moved on to the House, but not clearing the Senate Floor means that these particular bills are likely no longer a threat this year. Read More...
We're Half-way To Becoming A SUPER PAC
When it comes to influencing legislation, there is no better way to be heard than becoming a Super PAC (Political Action Committee). Becoming a SUPER PAC simply requires a minimum $10 donation from 500 people. This is definitely achievable, but requires participation and involvement from all of our partner organizations. Please fill out this FORM today if you are able to assist us in meeting this important goal by April 15. Please remember that this donation is not exclusive to those employed by tourism, but is open to all friends, family, etc. over the age of 18. Get engaged in tourism advocacy today!
